Took the kids to the Animal Shelter this weekend and got a new cat. It was spooked at home and wouldn't come out from under the bed. We'll have to give it time to get used to us, I guess. It's a very pretty calico with long hair. I hope it turns out to be a nice pet... It cost $75 to adopt!

Had a fun weekend with the kids. They had a Holloween Carnival at their school where they ran around with their friends and won prizes. The next day we spent a few hours at Chuck E. Cheese playing games and eating pizza. On the way out of the parking lot we saw a pumpkin patch and played there on the giant slide and jumping bounce thing. We also got a big pumpkin for daddy, a medium pumpkin for sister, and a small one for son. We carved them and lit them up that night!

Had a fun weekend, begining with a fantastic rockabilly show with Cave Catt Sammy at Tio Leo's Lounge. They came all the way from San Antonio to rock the house. My daughter has a slumber party to go to the next day, so the son and I camped out in the backyard. We roasted hot dogs on the campfire and slept real cozy in the tent. Finally, we picked up the daughter and hit the beach. The shorebreak drilled my daughter, getting sand in her eyes and hair. She was a little spooked after that, so we walked the tidepools and swam on the little beaches. Good fun!

Saw an excellent guitar player this weekend, Deke Dickerson. His show was a rockabilly roots gig that was well worth staying up till 2am at a bar-show. I was a little pooped out when I took the kids to LegoLand the next day, but that is just part of being a parent. Sometimes we just have to do things we don't want to do. In the end, It was well worth it, despite the long lines and chasing the kids to keep them from getting lost.

Took the kids to the Adams Avenue Roots Festival this weekend and had a good ol' time eating, listening to music and playing on the carnival rides. There was folksy guitar singers, mariachis, peruvian flutists, and many others celebrating San Diego's diverse culture. There was also tons of arts and crafts. Finally, we settled for toys. The arms and legs of the Power Rangers my son picked fall off.

Had a nice time this weekend with the kids. We went to the Rolando Street Fair. Llama and carnival rides made them laugh with pleasure... something that makes my life happy and fulfilling. The afternoon was hot, so we went to Marine Street in La Jolla to finish out the weekend in comfort. Classic!

Had a blast last weekend at the El Cajon Skatepark with my old skatin' buddy from the days of Movin' On Skatepark (1978 or so). It is so fun to get back into it and see other old-timers doing the same thing. I'm telling ya... we all need something to make our live worth living!

Had a killer time at the Coronado Skatepark with a pard from back in the day. There were plenty of old school skaters there, so I felt right at home doing edgers, slides and carves. What a blast! I'm getting better each and every time I go out!

Had a blazing session at the Salvation Army Skatepark last night on my BRAND NEW skate! Pulled off some rad edgers, grinds and slides in the halfpipe until I beefed so hard that I almost passed out. I'm almost too old for that sort of thing!

Finished off the holiday weekend with a session at the Ocean Beach Skatepark ripping the little bowls there. I'm learning the flow and getting better everytime. After that, I stopped off at the Solid Rock Indoor climbing gym and did my first climbs in the lead cave (I built this site!) for the first time in months. Pretty cool weekend!

Took the kids camping with my folks at Dixon Lake in Escondido. We climbed rocks, made shmores and took a motorboat out on the lake. It is cool to see how my parents and I are growing up together with the kids as catalyst. Life is good!

Had a busy weekend with the kids. For Shabbos, we visited Young Israel Synagogue. They have remodeled the shul, and it is beautiful. At night we went to the drive-in to see Shanghai Knights and Kangaroo Jack. Sunday morning I ditched the kids with my folks and went skateboarding at the O.B. Skatepark. We all finished the weekend by going back to the beach for the sunset. Whew!

Took the kids camping at Kumeyaay Campground this weekend. It's cool having kids because they force parents to do stuff. Like this campground. I have lived here practically all my life and never camped there before. We crossed the river hopping from stone to stone. Both kids fell in, but warmed up while we cooked dinner over the fire. CLASSIC!

HAPPY NEW YEAR! I just took it easy and played with the kids for the few days I had off from work. We camped and cooked hotdogs over the fire. It was no party like the rest of the world celebrated, but it was good and fun.
